Gene brings over twenty years of rare, cross-disciplinary experience that seamlessly connects deep technology, operational leadership, and capital markets. As Co-Owner and Technical Director of NavStar Geomatics, he spearheaded the creation and global commercialization of the GeoExplorer software suite – a mission-critical deformation monitoring platform trusted by many of the world’s largest mining companies and infrastructure owners. During his 13-year tenure at NavStar, Gene drove strategy, operations, business development, and international expansion, consistently turning complex technical solutions into scalable, high-impact businesses.
Before NavStar, Gene honed his investment acumen as an Investment Advisor at Odlum Brown Limited, where he excelled in capital allocation, portfolio construction, and rigorous investment analysis. His career also includes founding and leadership roles in software development and enterprise technology services, giving him an uncommon ability to evaluate, build, and scale technology-driven companies from the ground up.
Gene holds an MBA from Washington State University and combines operational grit, technical depth, and financial sophistication – exactly the blend Altrus Capital seeks when backing founders who are redefining industries.

In his role as Partner, Gene will focus on Altrus’ Venture Capital portfolio companies, sourcing and leading new investments, providing hands-on operational guidance to portfolio companies, and driving value creation from seed through scale-up.
